Tuning In To Teens' Brains (TINT-B) Study

The TINT-B Study aims to test whether the way parents respond to their adolescent's emotions influences adolescent brain function. Your participation will help to increase our understanding of how parenting can influence adolescent children’s mental health and brain function. Findings from this study will help to improve prevention strategies for adolescents at risk of depression and anxiety.

Mothers: By participating in this study, you will receive a free one-on-one 8 week parenting program*, which will teach you:

  • to help your daughter cope with her emotions and transition more smoothly into secondary school

  • to help your daughter be aware of her emotions when interacting with peers

  • to better cope with anxiety, anger, and other strong emotions when interacting with your daughter.

Mothers and daughters: Participation in this study involves completing some questionnaires, MRI brain scans (adolescent only) and mother-daughter interaction tasks. See the timeline on the Participation page!

*You may receive the parenting sessions now or 8 months later.
